You really don't want to die in this game.

I feel it adds to the difficulty of the game and adds value to each life. Other people complain about the Save system. This needs to be tested to get the best balance but atleast 50 - 150% longer in time. Slow it down and let the player enjoy himself, the same urgency will still be there. SOLUTION - I think the time could be 100% longer. You almost need to know the map inside and out to be to navigate it effectively. You can either relax, have fun but MISS almost every side mission or try to do ALL missions but have NO time to explore correctly. However, this game wasn't designed for this. Moreover, for someone new, they will want to explore the mall, go in every store, try on clothes, mess around with funny weapons, take pictures, etc. Maybe this was a design choice? To keep the player in a constant rush and have him decide on what he wants to do, having to sacrifice some survivors. You simply don't have time to get every mission done (side missions and all). I played the game many times before and I still felt in a constant rush to explore all the points of interest. When you play the game your playthrough will only be around 10 hours. Game's time scale is rushed: You have 72 hours before the helicopter returns to pick you up.

It just feels bad and is a weird game design. This definitely makes the game more challenging so maybe this was on purpose? Idk but it makes using weapons really annoying against others human AI. So you must expose yourself to being shot in order to shoot others. Using Guns: You can't move while aiming guns. Or make everyone voice act including Frank so you actually care about what is being said. SOLUTION - Make it so you can skip all the dialogue by pressing A. This ties into the rushed time scale of the game and is a horrible design choice. Sometimes convincing them can take up to 1 minute it seems. You just want them to join you ASAP so you can run back to the safe house. The issue with this is that no one cares what is being said as there is no emotion, connection with the people involved. Talking with survivors: Outside of cut scenes no AI will voice act, instead you have to read your conversation with them in a chatbox. SOME SOLUTIONS - An ear piece where you can still fight, being able to fight with one hand while the other hand holds the transceiver or being able to rapidly skip through what he says. Yes you can choose to ignore him, but then you are missing out on content to do. This is a big deal as he will call you often and sometimes when you have survivors or during a boss battle. You can't skip through his dialogue either and it lasts on average 10 seconds where you are useless. When answered you can't fight off zombies.

Transceiver: Otis will update you with quests and introduce you to new areas through the transceiver. However, it has some game designs that are horrible and would be ripped apart if released today.

The PC version looks great and there is a lot the game does correct: the tone, story, characters, psychopaths, etc. I purchased this game based on nostalgia and how much I thought I enjoyed it. I just played this game for the 4th time, first time on PC & first time in maybe 8 years.
